The liquid face lift & volumiser

Sculptra is an injectable treatment that stimulates the body's own Collagen to smooth out lines and wrinkles.

Why Sculptra ?

Over time your skin loses its full, firm, youthful appearance because of the natural ageing process. From an early age the amount of Collagen your body produced slows down; it is this substance which your body produces to give your skin a firm and useful appearance. You also lose fat tissue which maintains the fullness of your face, so your face becomes thinner and more narrow which in turn makes you look older. Sculptra helps the skin to replace lost Collagen by trigging a gradual and significant increase in the skin volume; as the skin thickens, the sunken area and the folds on its surface 'fill out' to smooth lines and wrinkles, helping you to look younger naturally.

A number of choices are available when you decide on the treatment but other common fillers do not provide long term reduction of wrinkles and creases; by stimulating your own facial collagen production, Sculptra is at the forefront of anti-wrinkle technology.

Sculpra works gradually to give a natural effect: usually 2-3 treatments are required and results should be noticeable after approximately 6 weeks (however, in some people, it may take longer or require more treatments). Clinical studies have shown that the results of Sculptra can last up to 2 years after your last treatment, significantly longer than any other injectable treatments (including Botox). No allergy testing is required unlike some other products. The main ingredient of Sculptra has been used in medicine for over 25 years and has a good safety record on top of it being FDA approved for cosmetic use in the USA. Since Sculptra burst onto the market in 2005, there have been well over 17,000 treatments carried out in UK alone.

Who performs treatment with sculptra?

A qualified health care professional who has completed the sculptra training programme certified by Sanafi-Aventis.

Does the treatment hurt?

As with all injections you will see some discomfort; if necessary your practitioner will give you local anaesthetic.

What must I bear in mind after the treatment?

Your health professional will give you special after care instructions. For optimum effects it is important to massage the treated area twice daily for one month.

Are they any side effects?

The most common side effect with the use of Sculptra includes bruising, tenderness or redness and swelling at the site of injection; these generally resolve in 2-5 days. One possible delayed side effect with Sculptra can be small bumps under the skin in the treated area. These small bumps may not be visible, you may notice them only when you press in the treated area. These , although rare, can be dealt with further irrigation of the affected area. Side effects can be avoided or reduced if you ensure you have treatment by someone who has completed the Sculptra training programme and you follow your proper after-care tips.

What can I do after treatment?

Carry on life as normal, make-up can be worn after the treatment and you can return to work the next day. You will be given an after-care leaflet with full instructions.

I have had my 3rd treatment of Sculptra on my face at Forever Young Clinic. Even after the 1st treatment I could see a huge improvement in my appearance. I recommend Sculptra to anyone worried about the signs of ageing and those who suffer from facial volume loss.
