Botox: More Information

Botox is most commonly used in the areas between the eyes, the horizantal forehead lines and at the sides of the eyes (Crow's Feet). On occasions, some other areas may be treated as well.

When administering Botox, you will feel a small pinch for about 5 seconds, we use miniscule comestic neededles to minimise discomfort. Cold compresses or topical anaesthetic cream can be used to numb the area injected.

Botox treatments usually are very quick, usually taking about 10 minutes to complete. As the treatment is very simple, you will also be able to go straight home after the procedure. Normal activity can be resumed, but facial massages or any activity that places stress on the treated areas should be restricted for 24 hours.

Allergan, the official and only producer of Botox, state that the treatments effects will be visible for 3 months. However, with experience we have routinely noticed that the treatment does last longer, at least 4 months and in some cases the full 6 months. After prolonged use, the effects will gradually start to last longer, up to 8 months in some cases.
